Aion Classic is coming to the North American server!
For 12 years now, Aion has been a giant of the MMO genre, especially in its early days. NCsoft brings us a blast from the past with Aion Classic, allowing us to relive our favorite moments filled with nostalgia.
Since its release, Aion has been defined by its grinding progress and good PvP. And that’s why we love it. In Asia, the game was a huge success, with 3.5 million subscribers in 2009.
Trying to emulate that success, in Korea Aion Classic was released, with its original features from 2009, and this move saw it match Guild Wars 2 in terms of revenue, and even today it follows Lineage. 2, based only on its Korea. server.
Grind is a defining trait of a good MMO game, and Aion doesn’t disappoint. With its gear progression so consistent, having that upgraded armor or sword makes you stand out and have a sense of accomplishment because you really deserved it.
Aion follows the old-school style of the Holy Trinity in his Pvp, the classes countering each other. With the game’s very well done tab target system and balanced open world, the end game PvP content has proven to be enough to stand the test of time.
In that vein, fans will be happy to hear that, according to AionNA’s latest tweet, NCSOFT is bringing Aion Classic to North America. Judging by the reactions, many old fans are planning to return to the game, as well as new ones are joining the hype and will be checking it out.
One downside to bringing back an old game is that the players have also aged. Many point out that they likely won’t have time for Aion’s grind, no matter how well implemented, and hope to see changes made to reduce the time it takes to upgrade a character to access endgame content. .
As far as EU fans are concerned, due to the fact that Gameforge is the publisher for their region, it seems unlikely that Aion Classic will arrive in the EU region anytime soon. And since the game’s PvP is so dependent on latency, playing on NA servers could prove difficult for most.
