2024 Vision Board & Goals (2024)

Making my vision for 2024 and all the goals I have for this year

I have many specific goals for 2024, and I made a vision board to visualize my goals :)

Over the month, I’ve been collecting my ideas and thoughts on what goals I want to achieve throughout the year.

Overall Goal: Be Consistent!

It’s the tiny efforts every day that make the goal happen; it’s not a one-day thing. So, any goals I achieve this year will be because of the regular time and effort I put into them.

2024 Vision Board & Goals (2)

1. Secure an internship in the information management/IT field.

I’m a third-year undergraduate student studying information management in Hong Kong (HK). Commonly, getting an internship is part of the requirement to get credit in the third year.

I get worried because of the language requirements I’m not fluent in and my lack of experience in that field. Not to mention, it’s in general hard to get into the job market.

A paid internship would be ideal, but I’m not going to throw away an opportunity to get the experience if it comes my way. So I’m aiming to get an internship this year. Wish me luck ❤

2. Gain 1000 followers and be engaged on Medium.

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” Zig Ziglar

As of the moment I write this article, I have 12 followers and have published 31 articles.

So, initially, I wanted to get 100 followers on Medium to be eligible to apply to be in the Medium Partner Program to start earning, but as I found out recently, it’s no longer necessary. Also, I wrote more about it here.

Regardless, I still want to build an engaging community, so I might as well set a higher goal. So, a new goal of mine is to gain 1000 followers and be an engaged writer and reader on Medium.

3. Have multiple streams of passive income.

  • Medium, aiming for posting quality and engaging topics. And earn after doing the goal I have above. I’ve made it my goal to post 10 quality articles per month. After classes, I make time to write articles. Also, I’ve planned out some topics and put them in my planner. As of January, I’ve posted 10, including this one.
  • Kofi, I have posted a single thing there. So, I would like to be more active here and hope to earn from it. My goal for Kofi would be to post more short-form blogs, ideas, and thoughts. Also, I would post some of the articles days before I posted them here.
  • KDP Amazon, I’ve never used it before, but I’m thinking of using it as a side hustle by designing books, journals, and planners.

4. Self-publish a novel.

This might be the hardest one on the list because of how many times I’ve tried it and given up on it.

In fact, the reason I started my Medium account was to practice writing for someday publishing a novel.

Before, I didn’t think it was possible. But now that I’ve been managing my time well to write, I can use more of it to write a book.

Right now, I’m thinking of publishing on KDP. Because it’s the easiest way I can, and if I find a better way in the future, I’ll do that.

5. Read more.

I hope to read more for the fun of it and let my imagination run wild.

6. Create animation and art.

I have done this before, making simple frame-by-frame animations and making art. I want to experiment with it more and just enjoy making something new.

Something was holding me back, but I missed creating. So, I plan on getting a stylus and doing it on my phone.

7. Be physically active.

I want to become stronger and more flexible.

My body is giving me signals, and it’s time I listened to them. I aim to be healthy and strong. Not just for me, but also for the people around me.

I have realized that the more I take care of myself, the more energy I have to give and take care of others, like family and friends.

As usual, I have a karate class every week. And I go for walks, mostly. One of the new physical activities I want to get into is hiking.

8. Eat better.

I started implementing more nutritious meals mixed with my regular home-cooked meals. My home-cooked meals are good. But it is the junk food and outside meals that do me damage.

The problem is with me and my self-control. I tend to overeat because I’m bored. Even when I have no reason, I eat more.

I watched a video of someone’s weight loss journey, and she mentioned her relationship with food. She also talked about failing, and I could relate to her in terms of failing and food addiction.

And my body looks similar to hers in the video. It gave me some inspiration to do the same.

It’s not a linear process, but regularly trying to be will help. I started by choosing healthier, full meals whenever I was outside.

9. Travel to new places in Hong Kong.

Even as a resident, I haven’t seen it all. I feel like a tourist; it’s fun and, honestly, peaceful.

Also, I’m making a list of places I want to go throughout the year. So far, I have two.

10. Be balanced.

Too much of anything isn’t good. I’ve struggled with balancing everything and ended up on either end of the stick.

Ways I plan to be more balanced:

  • Maintaining Relationships: Times pass by fast, and everyone is busy in their world. So, hit up friends and hang out. Take my siblings out to eat. Take care and communicate with my parents more. Show these important people that I care and enjoy their company.
  • University: Make time to understand what I’m learning and make use of the opportunities available.
  • Health: taking care of my body and mind. Even skincare. Know when to stop, take a break, and then get back up. Go for walks and eat better.
  • Fun: Sometimes I value this more than the rest, but I need to prioritize other aspects of life that are more important. I’ll still have fun doing things I enjoy, but I won’t be distracted by them.
  • Finance: working towards passive income and an internship.

11. Meet new people and make new friends.*

I do enjoy getting to know new people, hearing their stories, and just talking to each other.

Last year, I made some friends as a byproduct of trying to get out of my comfort zone. I hope to make new friends and meet new people this year as well.

As a subsection of this, I hope to meet someone with whom I can get into a healthy relationship, and I think friendship is the best way to meet and get to know someone.

Basically, I’m also opening myself up to find love.

*This is not in the vision board above because I’ve made separate vision boards for love and friendship. Everything else is ever-changing and I don’t know exactly what I want every time. But when it comes to love and friendship, I have a clearer idea of what I want for a lifetime

12. Improve Cantonese and Learn Mandarin

This is a goal that’s really important to me because of its value when it comes to living and working in Hong Kong, something I want to do.

I’ve discussed this topic on my page and will continue to do so. I’ll be adding monthly updates in 2024, and they will be added to this list.

To be specific, I’m learning to speak mostly Cantonese and Mandarin. And practicing reading and writing in Chinese (traditional).

I’ll consider it progress if I can have conversations without going “Umm…”

13. Learn Python programming.

I’m taking a beginner’s Python programming course at the university. I want to learn it and experiment with making something, like a small project.

I’m excited about what’s to come this year. I’ll update you all at the end of the year on each goal.

I made multiple sets of vision boards — one set for my planner and one set for this article.

For my planner, I used Capcut to make the vision board and images from Pinterest.

For this article, I used Canva to make another set of my vision boards. Here are some ideas for creating your vision board; mine looks similar to the one in the journal.

I made vision boards for the overall goals (A: Be financially independent; B: Hobbies and projects; C: Mind, Body, and Soul; and D: Gain Skills).

I’ve printed out all the pictures related to my goals and vision and stuck them on the last two pages of my planner so that I can see them every day.

I hope to achieve all my goals for this year and hope you do too!
