These are the BEST low sodium cookies! I have a secret ingredient that actually wasn’t planned! It’s coconut oil! SO DELICIOUS!! This will become your go to recipe and you’ll in fact never hunt another cookie recipe to satisfy that sweet tooth! “Low Sodium Chocolate Chip Cookies: A Healthy Recipe”

You will not be able to tell that these cookies have a low mg of sodium. A lot of sodium free cookies have unsalted butter in the recipe, instead of regular salted butter.

BUT, I replaced the butter for coconut oil! A couple of months ago I had to start a dairy free diet, but I wanted some cookies and my first batch was with butter.

Next time, I made these cookies with coconut oil and I could not believe the difference in taste! These cookies are so soft in the middle, but crispy on the outside! I’ll always make these cookies with coconut oil from now on! YUMMY!

So, I made these sodium free chocolate chip cookies and I was AMAZED how good these healthy cookies were!

So many cookie recipes can be created healthier by a few changes or exchanges made in the simple ingredients.

How to create healthy recipes!

  • Exchange the regular butter with an unsalted butter (less mg sodium) or coconut oil
  • Replace the regular white flour with almond flour(Almond flour chocolate chip cookies)
  • Exchange the brown sugar with sugar alternatives
  • Exchange the regular chocolate chips with sugar free chocolate chips that don’t have the added sugar (sugar free chips do have an additional cost)
  • For low-fat chocolate chip cookies reduce or cut in half the amount of chocolate chips in a recipe

Can I leave salt out of cookie recipe?Yes, if you are on a low-sodium diet you can leave the salt out of your cookie recipe and still have delicious recipes.

How do you reduce salt in cookies?You can either leave the salt out of the recipe completely or you can cut the salt amount in half of a regular cookie recipe.

  3. Gather supplies and recipe ingredients

  5. Add sugars, eggs and vanilla extract, mix until smooth
  6. Add the dry ingredients of all-purpose flour, and baking soda, mix well
  7. Fold in chocolate chips
  8. Take cookie dough and roll into 1 tablespoon size dough ball or scoop up a tablespoon size with a cookie scoop and place on parchment paper
  9. Place the little balls at least 1 inch apart and gently press down a little bit the top of the cookie so they will flatten out.
  10. Bake for approximately 10 minutes or until golden brown
  11. Then, place onto a cooling rack and allow to cool.
