‘Book of Boba Fett’ Cast Leak Solves Season 3 ‘Mandalorian’ Issue
Bounty hunters make the heart beat faster from the criminal belly of the Star Wars universe. Sure, there are smugglers like Han Solo and crime lords like Jabba the Hutt, but bounty hunters have penetrated every facet of the canon, from their hiring by Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back in pursuit of Omega in Star Wars: The Wrong Lot.
A new leak suggests we’ll see another classic bounty hunter return to Star Wars very soon, in a conspiracy maneuver that could have major implications for The Mandalorian.
Bossk, the reptilian bounty hunter first appeared in the The Empire Strikes Back, is set to make a comeback in the next Disney + spinoff series Boba Fett’s book, according to LRM online. A reunion between Bossk and his former colleague would be quite interesting, but a look at these characters’ Legends plots suggests a much more intriguing possibility for the character’s introduction.
While Bossk is canon everywhere, from novels to comics to episodes of Star Wars: Rebels, his most interesting character development lies in the non-canonical works, especially the Bounty Hunter Wars novels by KW Jeter. These books follow the events of Vader’s motley team of bounty hunters both after the events of The Empire Strikes Back and through flashbacks.
Lost legends is a Reverse series on the forgotten tradition of our favorite stories.
In these aforementioned flashbacks, Bossk and his fellow hunter Zuckuss are sent on a mission by the Bounty Hunter Guild, which at the time was headed by Bossk’s father, Cradossk. Bossk resented his father’s leadership because in his old age Cradossk’s actions brought the Guild to ruin. In order to make a claim, Bossk murdered Cradossk with his own dagger, and the Guild was divided into two sections: the Younger Guild Reform Committee and the more experienced True Guild.
While this all sounds like a gripping story, it might be hard to see any of its factors in Boba Fett’s book. The answer lies in The Mandalorian.
While we saw the Bounty Hunter Guild in The Mandalorian previously the only leader we have met is Greef Karga, who happily keeps the town of Nevarro afloat. This means that if there is to be more bounty hunting work for Din Djarin, there is bound to be a new chef in town. How about a fan favorite bounty hunter with a long history in the guild?
Introducing Bossk to the new Star Wars live-action universe would simultaneously address two issues in each of the upcoming series. Of course, that would explain who takes over as the Guild contact point for Din Djarin. And in addition, it would allow Boba Fett to relax his contacts as he resumes operations at Jabba Palace on Tatooine.
After all, there is nothing better than asking a former colleague for help with a new job.
The Mandalorian is now streaming on Disney +, while Boba Fett’s book arrives in december.
