End of Dragons expansion is Guild Wars 2’s last hope

Guild Wars 2 has been one of the best MMOs out there, but its time may be over if future End of Dragons expansions don’t fix the game’s issues.

Say that Guild Wars 2 is in a bad place right now would be a colossal understatement, as his next End of the dragons expansion could literally mean the end of the game. It’s pretty hard for an MMO to survive forever, but a successful game like Guild Wars 2 should be able to last a very long time in today’s era of live service games.

The situation at Arena Net is quite dire. After recovering from the failure of his Heart of thorns expansion, Guild Wars 2 had as much momentum as ever when his Fire path the expansion came out, but it didn’t take long for the fervor to start to wear off. The game started to see slower-paced versions of content that lacked replayability and other times didn’t feel close to being completed. As staff moved to other studio projects that ultimately fell through, Arena Net was hit with massive layoffs. With the studio in disarray, many gamers got the impression that NC Soft ordered a third expansion to be created, as it didn’t initially appear to be part of any Arena Net plans.

the End of the dragons the expansion, slated for 2021, is the last hope for Guild Wars 2 as the giant of the MMO industry. With Final Fantasy XIV and World of warcraft well after recent extensions, Guild Wars 2 is too late. While presenting the continent of Cantha is a good start; a few new areas, a new campaign, and a new set of elite specializations won’t be enough to save this game. The introduction of Tengu as a playable race and major additions to current game modes are borderline necessary for this. stadium, as many of the game’s hardcore players have been kicked out for a growing list of reasons.

The Guild Wars 2 player base is at a breaking point

the Guild Wars 2 the community is angry and it’s hard to blame them. Many hardcore gamers have been kicked out of the game because their favorite game modes are abandoned or ignored altogether. Dungeons have been replaced with Fractals of the Mist, which just got a new version after 21 months. There hasn’t been a new MMO raid introduced for 18 months, having been replaced by Strikes, which are little more than watered down raids, as the casual audience to the game has been very resistant to what they perceive to be. a toxic and elitist game. fashion.

World vs. World players actually played the exact same thing Guild Wars 2 content since launch, without updating the Alliance functionality which was announced almost three years ago. PvP players have had ongoing issues with the way the format has been handled since its launch. And all of this is happening as the game’s Icebrood Saga campaign continues to disappoint and significant effort is made to the in-game cash shop with every update.

At this point, anyone who’s not just a casual open world gamer feels like they are actively being chased by Arena Net. Guild Wars 2 is a fantastic game with some of the best gameplay of any MMO on the market, but this gameplay cannot shine without great content. Some of these players have been actively involved in the franchise since its inception over 15 years ago and they don’t want to stop playing. But while Arena Net isn’t making great strides in addressing these issues with this upcoming expansion, Guild Wars 2 is probably made for, because players will not come back if they fail.
