Guild Wars 2 Reveals Latest 3 Elite Specs
Those who plan to play Guild Wars 2: The End of the Dragons finally know all the elite specializations for each class in the game. The last three have been revealed, along with the date of the next beta, so players can try out the new specs.
The third beta will take place October 26-30 and will give players a preview of the last three elite specs coming up for the expansion. The Engineer gets the Mechanic, who uses a sledgehammer, the Thief gets the Wraith, who uses a Scepter, and the Ranger gets Untamed, who wields a hammer.
The Mechanic will use his advanced Canthan technology to fight alongside his Jade Mech. Players can choose the strait for their robot, which will be loading its fight. The new weapon, mace, will be used to apply barriers to allies and apply seal utility skills to give them and their mechs bonuses. The mechanic’s ultimate is the Jade Buster Cannon.
The Specter gains a new ability, Shadow Shroud, similar to that of the Plagues. In their shroud, they can do damage and also protect their allies. Wraiths wield scepters, which hurl bolts of tormenting shadow magic at enemies. Their weapon set includes new dual attack skills based on the left-handed weapons players equip.
The Untamed adventure through Cantha with their pets, and is a game based on the popular “Bunny Thumper” meta of the first Guild wars, a Ranger / Warrior build that used a hammer and a pet in conjunction with each other. The Untamed can switch damage to defense with his Unleash ability, which imparts magic to his pet. Rangers can now wield a hammer when choosing Untamed as their elite specialization, and will have access to certain minor spells that will allow some crowd control.
On October 22, Guild Wars 2 will be posting detailed gameplay for the last three elite specs on their Twitch channel, giving players more insight into the Canthan story behind these new professions.
After the October 26 beta, there will be an additional beta in November where players can get their hands on all nine professions and their first experience with the Siege Turtle, the game’s first cooperative mount.
As for what’s going on with World vs. World, Dot Esports reached out to ArenaNet to see if there should be a beta version of the WvW in addition to the Elite Specs beta. No beta information for the next October 26 beta has been given, but more information will be available on WvW later this week.
