Riot Games’ new job listing suggests League of Legends Mmorpg could be on the cards by 2022
Riot Games is known for its dominance in the esports world.
They have a title already established with League of Legends, which is one of the top tier esports titles in the world. At the same time, they also developed Valorant, the best tactical first-person shooter since Counter Strike.
However, it looks like Riot doesn’t want to stop there as they are looking to spread their wings in the MMORPG landscape as well.
League Universe based MMORPG by Riot Games
Some of the best MMORPG games in the world are Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft, and Ashes of Creation. This means that there is strong competition for Riot games in this regard. However, it appears the company has a plan to ensure the game attracts a larger audience.
The news was initially confirmed by Greg Street of Riot Games in 2020. However, it appears they sped up the process around February, when they started hiring staff. Greg Street mentioned that,
“My recent job has been to help develop the League universe, which we are going to need. Because it is time. My new job is to launch a great game (some would say huge) that many of you, and many rioters, have asked to create. “
It seems they want more people on their team to add more diversity. Recently, Greg tweeted again that they were ready to attract more people who feel underrated in the industry and provide them with a platform.
Even though it is currently recruiting experts, they will also bring new ones to next year. He wants to make sure the game stays fresh and has a broad and distinct perspective.
An assumption can therefore be made as to an expected rejection. A recent tweet made by a Riot games the employee states that he is looking for a senior production manager for his MMORPG project.
This indicates that a lot of ideas are already in place and they need more people to speed up the process several times. So, given the amount of effort and the scale of the team that Riot is targeting, it’s natural to assume that there could be a reveal or release somewhere towards the end of 2022.
This is only speculation, however, as production can often stop due to several internal and external issues.
It’s no surprise that the world of League of Legends is huge. The lore and depth of the characters often go unnoticed due to the competitive nature of the game.
Other than that, players who don’t belong to this universe rarely pay attention to the exquisite world of Runeterra. Therefore, an MMORPG can certainly spawn a lot of people and do justice to the world that Riot Games has developed meticulously over the years.
