10 best items for an archer (and how to get them)
In The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, the archer building is fun to play. This is partly because it requires a relatively high level of skill, and therefore is rewarding and satisfying to learn, and partly because archers have the ability to take down enemies in charge from a distance and rejoice in their efforts. corpses in the shape of a pincushion.
Many of the best items for archers in Skyrim are bows, obviously, but there is more to playing as a sniper with the power of a bowstring. It is also useful to be able to slow down or even completely neutralize a target, and to be able to both attack and move quickly. Everything to maintain the distance between the player and the target, basically.
This amulet is especially handy for archers who also happen to be hunters. It grants protection against animal attacks in addition to a modest bonus to the Archery skill. This is ideal for a novice looking to hone their archery skills using living wolves as a training target.
Kyne’s token is awarded to the player by Froki Whetted-Blade at the end of their quest, “Kyne’s Sacred Trials”. Froki lives in a cabin in the mountains of The Rift, southeast of Ivarstead, so go find him there.
Gauntlets of the Old Gods
These enchanted Forsworn gauntlets may seem primitive, but they grant the player a significant bonus in archery. They’re part of the Old Gods Armor set, but there’s no bonus for wearing a matching set, and none of the other pieces are particularly good for an archer.
The full armor set is awarded to the player just before the climax of “No one escapes the Cidhna Mine”. In order to trigger this quest, the player must first complete “The Forsworn Conspiracy,” which is triggered the first time they enter Markarth. After receiving Eltrys’ note, go to Talos Sanctuary to begin the quest.
Paralysis poison, fear and damage to health
If there is one thing more effective than a well aimed arrow, it is a well aimed poison point arrow. There are many different poisons that are effective in many different situations, but this one is particularly well suited for archers, given that it does additional damage and makes the target much less likely to get in close.
Infuse it with:
- Imp stool, which is common, but found in abundance in Tolvald Cave on the edge of the map, northeast of Shor’s Stone.
- Fillet jelly, which can be harvested from the bodies of Netch, which is commonly found near water in southern Solstheim.
- Poison flower, which only grows in Darkfall Passage, a location unlocked during the Dawnguard quest, “Touching The Sky.”
Zephyr is the fastest firing arc in the whole game, and that matters a lot, especially when an archer is charged up by angry melee enemies. Other than that speed boost, it’s an ordinary dwarf bow.
This rapid fire weapon can be found during the quest “Lost To The Ages”. Look for a copy of The Aetherium Wars book and read it to be invited to visit Arkngthamz, where the quest will begin. Zephyr is on a log sticking out of Katria’s body.
Enchanted Dragonscale Armor, Boots and Gauntlets
There aren’t any unique armor, boots, or gauntlets that offer particular benefits for archers, so it’s best for players to craft dragon scale armor on their own. This is great armor on its own, but can be made even more archery-friendly with the help of an Arcane Enchanter.
The best enchantments for archers are:
- Archery, increasing damage dealt with all bows.
- Squire, which improves the skill Light Armor.
- Conjuration, which allows you to cast the Bound Bow spell, a summoned weapon with many advantages over regular bows.
Antique Veiled Hood
Not all archers are assassins (or vice versa), but there is no doubt that the two disciplines go very well together. In order to obtain SkyrimThe best headgear for an archer, players will at least have to go moonlighting as assassins for a while.
Follow the main Dark Brotherhood questline and earn a bonus (Olava’s token) in the “Breaking Security” quest by killing Gaius Maro in one of the towns he visits. Bring the token to Olava the Weak in Whiterun, and the quest “Locate the Old Assassin” will begin. Complete the quest to get the Ancient Shroud Armor Set.
Petrifying Dragon Bone Bow
Although there are excellent unique arches in Skyrim, one of the most powerful arcs in the game is “homemade”. The player will need high blacksmithing and enchanting skills to craft it, but the result is well worth it.
A Dragonbone bow does great damage, and Paralysis is a simple but effective way to ensure that the bow-wielding archer does not have to face a moving target. At maximum enchantment level, a Bow of Paralysis can immobilize a target in place for 6 seconds, which should be enough time to finish it off.
Dwarf Black Doom Bow
This powerful dwarf bow is able to absorb health, stamina, and magic from its target, making it an extremely useful all-rounder, especially in difficult situations where player stats are low.
The arch is locked inside Kagrumez, a Dwemer ruin south of the Miraak temple in Solstheim, and to unlock it, the player must complete the miscellaneous quest, “The Kagrumez Gauntlet”, finding resonating gems around Solstheim, then completing a series of puzzles in the ruin itself.
This dragon priest mask doesn’t offer as huge a bonus to archery as the old sailing hood, but it does give big bonuses to lockpicking and alchemy as well as archery, it is therefore a more powerful object overall. And you can actually wear them both together, which translates into a very heavy archery bonus.
The player must defeat a powerful enemy to also get Krosis, namely the dragon priest of the same name, which will inevitably be accompanied by a dragon. Find them both in Shearpoint, a dragon lair high in the mountains south-southeast of Dawnstar.
This awesome bow deals both Frost and Shock damage, meaning it is powerful against almost all types of enemies and will slow its target slightly, which is always useful for an archer. Be warned though, it is leveled, so it is only most impressive when obtained by a player of level 46 or above.
The Nightingale Bow is awarded to the player in exchange for completing “Blind”, the penultimate quest in the Thieves Guild’s main questline, so even honest and law-abiding archers will have to flirt with crime in order to get their hands on the best gear.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim was released in 2011 and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S, and Nintendo Switch.
