How to Create the Ultimate Ranger Longbow Build
The Ranger of Guild Wars 2 is not only for Pokemon role players but also for serious damage dealers. Because in Guild Wars 2DPS is the answer to everything, and dealing as much damage as possible either shortens the job or reduces the time spent dealing with bosses. That’s why the “Ultimate Longbow Ranger” will always be the one to prioritize DPS.
The 10 best sci-fi MMORPGs, ranked
For someone who may not be familiar with the flow Guild Wars 2 META, this can be confusing, especially with the plethora of options available. It’s easy to mess up your Ranger character or any character for that matter. That’s why we’re here to make sure your Ultimate Longbow Ranger lives up to its name.
Make material high or better
The first step in making sure you have the most efficient Ranger build in the game is grabbing the best stats. In Guild Wars 2, the rarity or the Chosen item class is the best in the slot. It’s actually the second rarest, right after Legendary, but they still have the same stats.
Additionally, crafting legendary gear takes too long. The equipment and weapons assembled for a class can be completed in about a month. Now, for the bare minimum, you still can’t go wrong with Exotic rarity gear, but don’t go below that as it’s already a small downgrade in damage terms.
Use Berserker / Zojja weapons
As for the equipment or weapon stats to research, that would be the combination of Zojja or Berserker stats. For the uninitiated, the Berserker’s stats include Potency, Accuracy, and Ferocity, with Potency the highest value.
Simply put, craft a Zojja Crossbow or, if you’re feeling fabulously tall, a Pharus or Kudzu. When it comes to alternate weapons for the exchange, Zojja’s Razor in the main hand and Zojja’s Reaver in the left hand are considered the best, even if that means switching to melee.
Use the Berserker / Zojja armor
Of course, a Berserker weapon won’t do much on its own without the additional Berserker armor. If you don’t have Ascended Medium Armor yet, acquiring Zojja’s Medium Armor (Face, Shoulder Pad, Guise, Grips, Leggings, Striders) is arguably the most difficult part of crafting Ascended Items.
Still, they’re definitely worth it as they provide higher enhancements to the combined Berserker stats than the weapon. If you go with Chosen, you can think of them as an investment since the Engineer and the Thief also use the same armor.
Use Berserker trinkets
Speaking of ascended investments, props are probably the easiest to acquire. Even if players can’t or don’t want to craft, they can still be picked up from the Fractal Hall or certain Guild Quests.
When it comes to stats, obviously go for the Berserker. There are many variations of it, but again, Berserker’s stats are Potency, Accuracy, and Ferocity, with Potency having the highest value. The background is the most difficult to acquire, but living world maps provide plenty of opportunities to obtain them for free.
Sigil Of Force & Sigil Of Impact
Now let’s move on to the weapon slots. Which acronyms best complement Berserker statistics have often been the subject of debate in the community. For the Ranger who uses a longbow, it looks like the current META dictates the use of a Superior Strength Seal and a Superior Impact Seal.
The former deals generous + 5% damage while the other grants up to + 10% damage to stunned or stunned enemies, + 3% if they are standing. The same seals go in the Ranger’s alternate weapons.
6 Greater Runes of the Scholar
Much like Sigils, runes are also a hot topic in the community as many players are constantly doing math and theory on the best. For now, the Greater Rune of the Scholar reigns supreme over ultimate DPS setups. The Longbow Ranger is no exception.
Inserting six Greater Scholar Runes into your Berserker Armor grants a ton of power and ferocity with + 5% damage increase. The catch is, players need to maintain their health above 90% in order to take advantage of the + 5% damage boost. It shouldn’t be too difficult with the Ranger.
18 Powerful Infusions of Agony +5
Now, the beauty of Ascended gear is that it also comes with the bonus Infusion slots which are separate from the Rune and Sigil slots. Infusions are a must for Fractals which are basically dungeons upgraded in Guild Wars 2 but for the end of the game.
The best brews happen to grant a bit of a stat boost as well. For a DPS build, a +5 blue rarity powerful agony infusion gives +5 potency stat. It might not sound like a lot, but there are 18 infusion slots in total, which is +90 potency, which helps a bit and adds to damage multipliers quite well.
Shooting Expertise + Skirmishing + Soulbeast Specializations
Now that the item requirements for the Ultimate Longbow Ranger build are settled, it’s time to discuss specializations. For the Ranger, choose Shooting and under that tree, choose Hunter’s Gaze, Moment of Clarity and Lead the Wind. The second step is to choose the Skirmish Tree, then choose the Trapper’s Expertise, the Observer, and the Vicious Quarry.
Last but not the least, select the Soulbeast tree and then under it grab Live Fast, Essence of Speed, and Oppressive Superiority. You can change the talents of the tree, but changing the trees or the specializations themselves is not advisable unless you know your math.
Juvenile red moa and juvenile rock gazelle for pets
The best part of being a Ranger in Guild Wars 2 is choosing your pets. This is also one of the reasons why they are one of the easiest classes to play; they have aids that can absorb enemy damage and attention. Other animals provide utilities or big bonuses.
The Juvenile Rock Gazelle is the Ranger’s first recommended pet as it can provide pleasant situational crowd control when throwing the target into the air. Meanwhile, the second pet should be a Juvenile Red Moa that provides Fury for better crit rates and healing.
The right combinations of skill bars
Don’t embarrass your pets by being a Suboptimal Ranger now it’s time to carry your own weight with skills. For the Ranger, the most popular META healing skill is “We Heal As One!” For more utility, choose Signet of the Wild for more ferocity to you and your pets. Also take “Sic ‘Em!” because it is a universal pet control.
The final utility skill is situational and depends on your preference but “Protect me!” or Frost Trap helps a ton. Meanwhile, for the elite skill, either a pack of wolves or “Strength of the pack!” should ensure maximum damage.
