The main reason to gather Elder Wood is to craft it into Planks, which are useful in a variety of Exotic and Ascended crafting recipes.
Although there are dozens of ways to get Elder Wood, we’re only going to look at the most effective methods. This will help you gather the materials as quickly as possible without wasting time. Let’s first see which trees will provide Elder Wood.
Knots that provide old wood
Elder Wood can be obtained by mining the following types of trees. You can also check where these trees spawn in the world.
|Young bamboo shoot||
|Young baoba tree||
|Young cherry blossom tree|
|Young cypress tree||
|Petrified Echovald Sapling|
|Young red oak tree||
Overall, Elder Wood is found mostly in higher level maps. If you try to search for it in lower level areas, you will find less expensive types of wood.
To successfully harvest Elder Wood, you will need a Mithril Lumbering Ax or better. If you use a lower quality ax, you will get ruined resources that cannot be used.
Mithril and Orichalcum forestry axes can be purchased from any artisan or merchant in areas level 60 or higher. The farming methods we will discuss occur on maps above level 60, so you can easily purchase the tools here.
Now that you know which trees provide Elder Wood, let’s take a look at the best farming methods.
Agriculture at the Malchor jump
One of the best places to grow Elder Wood is at Malchor’s leap. On this map, there are dozens of Cypress saplings that provide Elder Wood.
The best place to find this resource is near a statue west of Pagga Waypoint. just below Rayhan Bayt, you can find a statue surrounded by trees, providing Elder Wood. These trees will respawn every few hours, allowing you to return several times a day to gather wood. You can also Check out this location on the map below.
In addition, you can harvest this wood with other characters. If you want to grow a lot of Elder Wood, we recommend “parking” a character at the Pagga Waypoint, using them to quickly retrieve Elder Wood from the Rayhan Bayt statue.
Farming at Siren’s Landing
Another great place to farm Elder Wood is in Siren’s Landing. This map does not have a cluster of trees like Malchor’s Leap, but here you can find several trees spread across the map.
When you look at the Siren’s Landing map, you will see the Camp Reclamation waypoint on the main “island”, consisting of the Risen Lowlands, Merciless Shore and Reliquary of Melandru. From the waypoint, Head slightly northwest, collecting wood from any trees you come across. Once you get to the end, which is the westernmost edge of the Unforgiving Shore, head southeast, looping through Melandru’s Reliquary.
Following this path, you will be able to find many trees that provide Elder Wood.
Purchase of elderberry wood
If you’re not in the mood to run and chop down trees, you can also buy Elder Wood. This material is quite cheap, but if you’re planning on buying a stack or two, be prepared to shell out the gold.
Buying Ancient Wood at the Trading Post isn’t technically farming, but it is the more efficient since you don’t have to travel to get it.
