Porsche convoy fined for blocking intersection
A capture of a video clip on user Jan’Chalom Lom’s Facebook page shows one of the Porsches making a right turn at the Wat Sri Panton intersection while two others block on approaching traffic in the Muang District of Nan Province on Sunday.
NAN: Drivers of 13 Porsche cars were fined 500 to 1,500 baht for traffic light violations and blocking an intersection while visiting a wealthy family in Muang district.
All showed up to pay their fines at Nan Police Station on Sunday evening after a video clip posted online earlier in the day showed two Porsches pulled over in the middle of the Wat Sri Panton intersection in Muang District, blocking traffic to make way for 11 other Porsches making a right turn – against a red light.
The clip went viral with comments about breaking traffic rules. Local police identified the drivers from license plates visible in posted video and a surveillance camera.
Police fined each of the 13 drivers 500 baht each for failing to stop at a red light and the two who blocked the intersection were also fined 1,000 baht each.
It was reported that the Porsche convoy was visiting a well-to-do family in Muang District in Nan.
