The Best Classes for Healers in Guild Wars 2
When it comes to completing raids, or really anything in a team-based MMO, you need three different roles. You need a tank to take out all the hits from those who can’t survive it, a DPS to take down the enemy, and a healer to make sure neither of the other two go down. Once all three roles have been covered and mastered, you should have an efficient and deadly team that can take down almost anything in front of them. However, healers often make the difference between success and failure.
Unfortunately, as far as Guild Wars 2 is concerned, there is no dedicated starting healer class. This leaves many players a little confused as to which class they should choose if they want to become a dedicated healer. Fortunately, although not specifically mentioned, certain classes make the best healers in Guild Wars 2.
When choosing the Engineer class, if you want a healer, head to the Scrapper specialization. It will work well with some healing skills. However, it should be noted that this class is not the best as a primary healer and is primarily designed as a support healer.
Still, with some useful healing skills, such as Medic Gyro, Healing Mist, and Bandage Self, you should be able to sustain yourself and your team enough. For more effective healing, constantly use the Med Blaster along with the aforementioned skills, to keep everyone healed before they take too much damage.
In typical necromancer fashion, many would assume this would be the healing class of choice. After all, nothing says “cure” like being able to bring the dead back to life. However, while the Necromancer is a good healer, it may be best used to support healing.
You will want to focus on the Bane specialization with this class. It’s best used in raids and fractals because that’s where you can really succeed as a healer. Grab the Blood Well skill and use Life from Death to restore people’s health when they need it. Additionally, there are a fair amount of healing items from this class that can be used, and there are useful weapons available that pair well with the class – like Hronk’s Spire – to give you a little boost in your healing abilities.
Although only unlocked in Guild Wars 2 expansions, the Revenant class is an extremely skilled healer, although it’s quite a complicated class to choose if you’re new to the game. head to the Vindicator specialization for the best chance of becoming a dedicated healer.
You’ll need to pick up Saint of Zu Heltzer for this healing boost. Be sure to get a worthy replacement from Empire vassals if you want to maintain this healing and track damage taken by your teammates. Anything with an extra source of eagerness will do. Compile this with armor and weapons that grant a little extra healing, and you should be able to keep up. This is especially the case with skills like Project Tranquility and Energy Expulsion, which allow the team to choose their healing by picking it up off the ground.
The Guardian class is one of the best healers in the game, especially when choosing the Firebrand specialization. It’s a pretty popular pick for most players due to its great buffs, healing skills, and ability to deal a lot of damage.
If you want to create a good healer, aim for skills like Holy Strike. You’ll also want to pick up skills like Empower, so you have access to even more healing abilities. These, combined with some useful healing gear, should allow you to play as any healer you desire.
Although primarily functioning as a DPS, the Elementalist is one of the simplest healing classes available in Guild Wars 2. This is primarily due to the fact that the base class contains enough healing to cover the role. . You don’t need to constantly change skills or gear before jumping into a battle, and it will work in raids or during open-world PvP.
Besides damage skills, look for things like Healing Rain or Water Blast. Mastering the elements to heal your party is both fun and useful. It’s also worth picking up Signet of Water for its ability to revive and heal allies, which you’ll likely use throughout the game.
While all other classes make a good support healer, the Ranger class is the primary healing class to pick. Take the Druid specialization and you’ll quickly become the strongest healer in the party – although that means you can’t expect to do too much damage in a battle.
While you can primarily look at healing through skills or other means, the most effective way to heal with this class is through spirits. You’ll specifically want Frost Spirit and Sun Spirit, both of which provide helpful healing for a short time. These, combined with skills like Cosmic Ray, Seed of Life, and Rejuvenating Tides will help you in your role and make you a fantastic healer.
