Volcanic Fractal Guide & Walkthrough

If you start playing Fractals early on, Volcanic Fractal will be your introduction to this game mode. Volcanic Fractal is a level 1, 19, 28, 52, and 92 fractal in Guild Wars 2in which your objective is to disrupt Grawl rituals taking place inside a large volcano.
You will need to defeat the shaman attempting the ritual and rescue the kidnapped captives if you wish to complete this fractal. Let’s take a look at how to complete each part of this fractal, including how to beat each of the bosses you encounter.
Ritual Grawl
At the start of the fractal, you will be attacked by Grawl enemy waves. Defeat these enemies until they stop spawning to continue.
Then you have to go through a tunnel which has flaming rocks roll down the hall. Get hit by one of them kills you instantlyso you’ll have to avoid them as you move through the tunnel. Look at the path of the rocks and move accordingly to avoid being hit.
Champion Grawl Shaman
After dodging the rocks, you’ll face the first Volcanic Fractal boss, the Champion Grawl Shaman. At the start of the fight, the Shaman will cover himself with a protective shield, negating all damage inflicted on it. To break this shield, use the infused stones that periodically fall from the ceiling. Throw them at the boss remove a stack from his shield; when all the batteries have been depleted, you can attack the boss normally.
Throughout the fight, Veteran Grawl Shamans will spawn and slowly advancing towards the captive humans. If any of the Grawl reach them, they push the captives into the lavasacrificing them for the ritual.
If all four humans are sacrificed, you will fail and be forced to restart. Focus on killing the veteran Grawl when he spawns.
The boss is going periodically replenish your shieldso once again use the infused stones to break it. Bring the Champion Grawl Shaman to 25 percent health will end this boss fight and allow you to continue to the next area.

After defeating the Grawl Shaman, you will move through a large vertical area with a lava pit at the bottom. You’ll have to jump through broken wooden stairs and train tracks to reach the other side. In the first room, jump down the stairs path on the left side to get him across.
In the next room, parkour through the stairs on the right side down at the opening. Avoid killing imp enemies in both areasas they won’t follow you into the next area, making them a low threat once you reach the end of the jump platforms.
Legendary Imbued Shaman
After crossing the rugged path, you will enter the heart of the volcano, where you will face the final boss, the Legendary Imbued Shaman. The area you are fighting this boss in is covered in hot lava, requiring you to be inflict burning if you stand still for too long. To avoid this, strafe left and right by attacking the boss.

Similar to the Grawl Shaman, the Imbued Shaman will gain a protective shield at 25% health intervals. This shield has 40 batteriesand normal attacks will reduce the shield of one stack.

While the shield is active, the boss move slowly towards the captives on the edges of the arena. If he hits one, he will sacrifice them for recover around 20% health. Break the shield quickly to avoid healing the boss.

Additionally, when the Shaman’s Shield is activated, Larvae will spawn around the arena that use immobilize attacks. Utilize condition cleaning capabilities to break the hold and continue attacking the boss.

The best way to break the shaman’s shield is to keep auto attack with quick attacks. To apply speed to the party will also allow you to attack more frequently, further reducing shield charges.

The imbued shaman will use a dive attack which creates large lava AoEs on the arena floor. When the boss fly in the air, fly away a short distance to avoid these AoEs.

Additionally, the boss has an attack that shoots a flaming arrow at a random playerinflicting burning if they are affected.
To defeat the Legendary Imbued Shaman, we recommend bringing professions that can apply quickness group-wide, such as Scrapper, Chronomancer, or Firebrand, to more easily break the boss’s shield. Also, be sure to bring at least one condition cleanup instance for yourself for remove burn piles you can win.
Projectile reflecting skills like Mesmer’s Comments can also help enormously when the larvae appear, because this reflect their immobilizing projectile attack.
When the boss earns his challenge barbe sure to take advantage of it by using crowd control abilities to wear down the bar and make the boss vulnerable.
After defeating the legendary Imbued Shaman and collecting your loot, you can return to Mistlock Observatory and spend your Fractal Relics.
